Install aWARemote Pro on your Android device.Once it is installed it will live in, and you can access it from, the system tray. Install the aWARemote server software on your PC.
Install Winamp if it’s not already installed on your PC.Using an Android phone to control Winamp is a bit of a hack but quite an effective one, the best thing about this solution is that it’s free, it’s easy to set up, and easy to use once it’s set up. Being able to use my Android phone as a remote to control music playback from my HTPC is useful because it means that I don’t have use the Winamp GUI which isn’t optimised for use on a HTPC (Winamp was never intended to be used on a HTPC). The main reason why I still use Winamp instead of another solution is because I can control music playback from my Android phone through aWARemote and aWARemote Pro. While Winamp may no longer be the most popular MP3 player I still think it “really whips the llamas ass” so much so that I still use it for music duties on my HTPC.
